Historically speaking, prior to the 1950's, the Wellington area was little more than an enormous strawberry patch known as the Flying Cow Ranch. Development of the area finally went into full swing in 1972, and today Wellington has a population of around 55,500.

Shopping and Dining

The Mall at Wellington Green is one of the most prominent shopping centers in the community. This mall is located on West Forest Hill Boulevard, and it includes more than 170 stores of prominent retailers like Macy's Dillard's, La-Z Boy Furniture, and Nordstrom. The Courtyard Shops at Wellington is another major shopping destination in the community. For longer journeys outside the area, Amtrak has two stations located within 20 miles of Wellington: the West Palm Beach station on South Tamarind Avenue and the Delray Beach station on South Congress Avenue.
