Florida Voter Registration Deadline is Tuesday, October 11th

Regardless of how you feel about the candidates for President, it is important that you exercise your right to vote.

For those of you new to Florida, please remember that the deadline to Register to Vote is Tuesday, October 11th. Depending on your county, early voting begins October 24th and October 29th through November 6th. 

 

The state of Florida makes registering to vote very                                         easy. 

1. Get the Form

2. Your completed application form must be postmarked by Oct 11                      and mailed to:

The Florida Division of Elections which is located at:
Room 316, R.A. Gray Building
500 South Bronough Street
Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0250

You can also submit the form to any County Supervisor of Elections, any Florida driver’s license office or tax collector’s office that issues driver’s licenses and/or Florida ID cards, any “voter registration agency” where you get services, any office that primarily serves persons with disabilities, any military recruitment office, or any public library.

Volunteer Opportunities within Palm Beach County for October

Even though its doesn't quite feel like Fall weather in South Florida, we are entering the time of the year. We are beginning to remember one of the best perks of living here, no snow! That is something to be truly grateful for. 

Most of us have so much to be grateful for... before the holiday season hits, why not considering giving back to our community by participating in a community project? United Way is one of several organizations throughout Palm Beach County that offers several volunteering opportunities throughout South Florida. I recently received an email detailing the upcoming dates and thought I would pass them along. 

Volunteer Opportunities with United Way in October

Day of Caring – packing week-end backpacks for children and families in need; following the Breakfast of Champions on Wed. Oct. 19 –9:45-11:15 at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach

Make a Difference Day – painting the exterior building of one of Community Partners substance abuse treatment facilities – Sat. October 22 – 8:30-11:30 in West Palm Beach

Family Volunteer Day – initial planting at Give Back Garden – Sat. Nov. 19 – 8:30-11:30 – Riviera Beach

Monthly Closed sales for Single Family Homes for Junee 2016

The Florida Association of Realtors (FAR) released the numbers for June. "The county’s median house price rose to $320,000 in June, up sharply from May’s median of $311,000" said Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches on Thursday. Prices increased 5.6 percent from June 2015 to June 2016.

The average sales price for Palm Beach County in June was $503,839. Average sales price is calculated by taking the total number of sales in dollars divided by the number sales. While the total number of sales decreased by 2.9% since last year, the average sales price of homes increased by 0.5%

4th of July Celebrations around South Florida

I wanted to share some information regarding tonight's fireworks for those of you interested in seeing them. Most of the Palm Beach County cities will have celebrations and fireworks for its residents and visitors. Below are just some of the area festivities worth mentioning. There is fun for all of the family and plenty of food and drink vendors to keep all ages happy. Fingers crossed for no rain!!! 

  • Boca Raton has two celebrations occurring for its residents. One on the East side at the Spanish River Athletics Complex and the second at is at Sunset Cove. Both have family friendly festivities that will begin at 6:30PM with fireworks being launched at 9:00PM 
  • Delray Beach will also be hosting its July 4th Independence Day Celebration. This is an all day event with all the main activities being located off of Atlantic Avenue. Fireworks will be launched on the north side of the beach at 9:00PM
  • Boynton Beach will celebrate the 4th of July beginning at 6PM at the Interacoastal Park at the end of Gateway Boulevard. 
  • Lake Worth will be having their 4th of July Celebrations in Bryant Park with all day events taking place beginning at 1PM. Fireworks will launch at 9:00PM. 
  • Wellington will have 4th of July celebrations at Village Park from 6PM to 10PM, fireworks at 9PM
  • West Palm Beach will have a downtown extravaganza beginning at 5PM with fireworks launching over the waterfront at 9PM.

Selling Your Home this Summer? Consider the following....

If you are considering selling your home this summer, there are a few factors to consider to make your home more appealing to more buyers. The key phrase that I tell my clients is a simple mantra.. LESS IS MORE! 

UNPERSONALIZE

  • Consider removing personal family photos or at least limiting them around the house.
  • Remove sports memorabilia that could alienate a client that might not like your particular sports team.
  • Remove 'collections' from display.  
  • Consider putting your personal daily hygiene items in an accessible box/container. No one needs to know what you use/take on a daily basis. If possible, remove any built in furniture that will be leaving with you at the time of sale.                                                        

If storage space is limited, consider putting items in storage while selling your home. 

DECLUTTER

​To make any space seem larger, LESS IS MORE. 

Remove any unnecessary items for each room. This might by a great time to consider donating items you haven't used in over a year. 

Kitchen counters, bathrooms counters, nightstands and furniture pieces should be cleared Not only to make daily cleaning easier but also to appear larger.

ORGANIZE

Closets and cabinets should be organized. Consider using bins for small items. Arrange clothing by color. Align items in cabinets by size.

REPAIR

  • Fix leaky faucets or pipes
  • Ensure all doors (interior and exterior) close properly
  • Consider painting walls in rooms that have very personalized feel. Natural colors might not be your cup of tea but they appeal to more buyers than bold colors

CLEAN

Dusting might not be your favorite thing but it can make an impression on your homes condition. 

  • Don't forget wiping down all the air vents, fans, baseboard and corners of EVERY room.
  • Vacuum daily or at least every other day.
  • Re-caulk bathroom tubs and sinks as necessary 


OUTDOOR
The outside of your home is just as important as the inside. Have you hear of the term, 'curb appeal?' 
When buyer drive by your home, is it welcoming and inviting?

  • Maintaining a well cut lawn
  • Landscaping- being weed free
  • Keep shrubs trim
  • Consider adding colorful flowers to make a great visual impact​
  • Clean windows (inside and out) as well as the front door  
  • Pressure wash the exterior driveway, walkway, roof and a homes exterior makes a HUGE impact.

Wellington- New Type of Community Coming This Fall

I recently read two articles about an upcoming project heading our way near the town of Wellington, Florida. Freehold, a developer based on of Boston, is scheduled to begin a development just west of Wellington.

The community, named Arden, will have 2,000 homes with the main emphasis being on outdoor living and agriculture. Freehold plans to have the 2,000 homes on 1,200 acres of land each back to a green area and will include a 5 acre working farm and garden area with a community clubhouse used by the residents to take classes or gather. Standard community amenities will be included but are yet to be confirmed. 

Pricing is yet to be determined. Homes will go on sale later this year 2016 Fall.

Honda Classic Starts Today

Today is the start of The Honda Classic. 144 PGA Tour players will be returning to this 4 day, 72 Hole Stroke Play golf tournament at PGA National Resort & Spa. Some of the players that have committed to playing the event are: Ricky Fowler, Rory McIlroy Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott and Phil Mickelson just to name a few. New Construction in Boca Raton, Florida

A prominent developer has just been approved to build 211 townhomes on a local Boca Raton golf course. The townhomes are expected to be 2 to 3 bedroom homes averaging in 1,600 to 2,500 square feet in size. The development is anticipated to be planned for 2016. Pricing has not been confirmed as of yet.
